Woke up to 58 degrees & have received another 1.08" of rain thus far.

Made a butter pecan cake for our desserts.

Pulled the buckboard bacon out of the cure & rinsed them all off before soaking them in clean water. I'll truss them up with butcher string this afternoon & then season them up for tomorrow's smoke.

It's 56 degrees with a NE wind this morning. Going to be a PIA smoking the buckboard bacon...

Well, I knew it was going to be challenging, but I got the smoker going & got the meat on it. The wind is making it hard to maintain any kind of temperature, so it's going to be a long day instead of just 6 hours...

It's 45 degrees with a light SW wind this morning.

Did the weekly shopping & topped off the fuel in my Jeep.

Seasoned up a pork sirloin roast for supper. I'll throw in the carrots, celery, onions & potatoes in a little bit.

Watered the flats in the greenhouse.

Made a big pot of pork/vegetable/barley soup out of the roast carcass. Waste not, want not.

It was 58 degrees & wet, wet, wet here this morning. It made it up to 74 this afternoon.

Took Mrs Ranch to her PT sessions. She is not using the walker anymore, just a cane now. She is doing better!!!

The garden dried up enough for me to plant the Italian basil & half the green beans.

Planted the last half row of green beans. Then formed/fertilized the pepper rows & staged the stakes for tomorrow.

Fed the cattle.

Burned the trash (cardboard & feed sacks).

I’m almost finished with repairing everything that got damaged during the last storm. I’m quite certain our house took a direct hit. Final tally as follows:

1) Refrigerator primary control board and compressor control board.
2) Dishwasher control board
3) 2 GFCI outlets
4) one laser printer
5) one CNC machine monitor
6) primary business PC
7) Two internet routers

The new PC arrives on Monday and that will wrap up all the repairs

Set the stakes for the pepper plants.

Cleaned an old pot for painting. It will be used for potting up a mint plant grown from Cuban seed.

Made a mint simple syrup for Mojitos.

Had to go to Sealy to pick up meds. I see they have started the next phase on I-10 construction between the San Benard River and Columbus. Traffic was stacking up west bound. I came back through Cat Springs.

It's 61 degrees & overcast this morning. It made it up to 77 degrees this afternoon.

Made a pot of Carne Guisada for suppers the next few days. I'll make ranch rice later for the side dish.

Planted the Mojito Mint (mentha x villosa) plant in the refurbed pot for this year.

Continued forming/fertilizing rows in the garden & then watered. Also watered the flats in the greenhouse a few times.

The green beans popping up!

Cut the grass. It was bad, took 4 hrs to cut 1 acre...

Ran up to the vet's for pain killers for Dieter. He picked a bad day to hurt his leg.

It was 72 degrees & overcast this morning.

Made a loaf of sourdough bread.

Cleaned the ceiling fans & set them to the summer direction.

Set half the tomato stakes in the garden & then watered it.

Took Dieter to the vet. She took some xrays (nothing broke) but said that his hip is going to have problems as he ages...

Mowed the yard, caught bee swarm number 4 for the season and inspected the other 3 hives. Got a swarm that have taken up in the soffit of the house. Gonna have to cut those out of there soon but I need another deep box and frames first. Back to work tomorrow. Was a nice 4 days off.
